Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Talam ("we", "us", "our", or the "Application") handles your information. Talam is operated by Ismail Abdirahman Aden ("Service Provider") and is based in Qatar. Talam is an iOS application that delivers daily Quran verses, Tafsir Ibn Kathir commentary, and tools to save verses as wallpapers.

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information needed to operate the Application:

• Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email address and (optionally) your name and profile picture. This is used to identify your account and let you save favourites across devices.
• Saved favourites: Quran verses you mark as favourite are stored in our database (Supabase) and linked to your account, so they appear on any device you sign in from.
• App preferences: Your dark mode setting, daily reminder time, and tafsir language preference are stored locally on your device only. We do not transmit these settings to our servers.

Information We Do NOT Collect

To respect your privacy and trust, the Application does NOT:

• Track your location
• Collect device identifiers for advertising
• Use analytics or behavior tracking tools
• Show advertisements
• Sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers
• Use AI to process or analyze your personal data
• Access your contacts, microphone, or camera

Photo Library Access

The Application requests permission to save images to your Photos library only when you tap the "Save Photo" button to download a verse as a wallpaper image. The Application never reads, modifies, or accesses any other photos on your device. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Notifications

If you enable Daily Reminders in the Application's settings, the Application schedules a daily local notification on your device at the time you choose. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no server is involved, and no notification data is transmitted to us. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings or in the Application's profile screen.

Third-Party Services

The Application uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Google Sign-In — for authentication when you choose to sign in with Google
• Sign in with Apple — for authentication when you choose to sign in with Apple
• Supabase — secure database hosting for your account and favourites
• Quran.com API — provides Tafsir Ibn Kathir content

Data Retention

We retain your account information and saved favourites as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from the Application's profile screen, all of your data (account, favourites, and any associated records) is permanently deleted from our database within a reasonable timeframe.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Delete your account and all associated data (via the Application or by contacting us)
• Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the Application

Children's Privacy

The Application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at ismail960i960@gmail.com.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures (HTTPS encryption, Supabase Row Level Security policies, and secure OAuth authentication via Google and Apple) to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

International Users

The Application is operated from Qatar but is accessible globally. By using the Application, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in jurisdictions different from where you live.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
